In 2026, at its annual GrabX event held in Jakarta on April 8th, the Southeast Asia-focused superapp, Grab, introduced a suite of 13 AI-driven products.
These innovations target consumer lifestyle, travel experiences, and business empowerment, leveraging insights from over 20 billion rides and orders via the Grab Intelligence Layer.
Among these, Group Ride now allows up to four passengers to share a vehicle, with AI-optimized routes and split payments, potentially reducing costs by up to 40% compared to solo trips. Through Grab More, users can combine purchases from nearby merchants without extra fees, with the app’s AI ensuring coordinated delivery times. The Grab AI Assistant serves as a personal digital assistant capable of suggesting restaurants, making reservations, or compiling shopping lists directly within the app based on user inputs like photos or voice notes. Additionally, GrabMaps for Consumers offers advanced navigation features, including real-time parking and EV charger locations, indoor mall guidance, and integrated calendar data.
The Cash Loan service taps into Grab’s first-party data to offer swift, in-app credit decisions using AI, catering especially to users with thin credit profiles or no formal credit history.
Travel and merchant-focused tools
For travelers, Personalised Travel Experience consolidates essential information such as airport data, passport reminders, gate updates, and indoor navigation all within the Grab app. GrabPay for Travel facilitates seamless payments at participating merchants using home-issued debit or credit cards saved in Grab, bypassing the need for a local e-wallet or additional app installation.
For businesses, Virtual Store Manager employs AI to monitor store conditions through existing CCTV footage, tracking hygiene standards, queue lengths, and foot traffic across multiple locations. Cloud Printer streamlines order flow from front counters to back kitchens, while Tap to Pay allows GrabMerchant-enabled smartphones to operate as contactless payment devices without the need for specialized hardware.
Driver AI Assistant provides real-time voice guidance on policy questions and operational enhancements directly to driver-partners.
In summary, these new products are aimed at enhancing the user experience by automating routine tasks, thereby allowing consumers, merchants, and drivers to focus more effectively on their daily activities.
