GoTyme Bank has introduced a stock trading feature integrated with DragonFi Securities, providing Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) access directly through its mobile app.
This branded ‘PH Stocks’ service enables users to buy and sell shares listed on the PSE within GoTyme without switching apps.
The integration also supports funding trades from existing bank balances, placing orders outside standard trading hours, and withdrawing earnings all within one application. This arrangement simplifies the process, eliminating the need for separate brokerage accounts or platforms, thus merging banking and investment functions into a single user interface.
Focusing on long-term investing rather than frequent trading activity, GoTyme Bank aims to help users transition from saving to investing, addressing barriers that have historically restricted retail participation in the Philippine stock market, such as the complexity of opening brokerage accounts and managing multiple financial applications.
Broadening Retail Access to Capital Markets
DragonFi Securities offers the underlying trading infrastructure for this feature. This partnership mirrors a broader trend observed in Southeast Asian fintech markets, where digital banks and neobanks are expanding beyond basic banking services to incorporate investment products into their apps.
In recent years, there has been increasing interest in retail investing in the Philippines, but participation in equity markets remains lower compared to savings and deposit products. Integrating stock market access within a widely used digital banking app aims to reduce entry barriers for new investors.
By positioning investing as an integral part of routine financial management rather than a separate activity, the GoTyme and DragonFi partnership aligns with trends seen across digital financial platforms in the region. Similar integrations have been adopted by neobanks in countries like Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam, where bundled services contribute to higher engagement among younger users.
