CMC Markets and Upvest have joined forces to introduce a multi-currency securities offering in Germany, setting the stage for an expansion across Europe.

This collaboration allows CMC Markets’ clients to invest in stocks, ETFs, and mutual funds priced in GBP, EUR, and USD through a unified platform. The German launch serves as a template for broader European market penetration, with planned local products such as pension plans and tax wrappers.

Investment Infrastructure and Product Range

Per the official press release, Upvest supplies the essential investment infrastructure via an integrated API, handling execution, custody, settlement, and back- and middle-office operations. This setup enables CMC Markets to offer a diverse range of securities across multiple currencies without developing supporting systems independently.

The offering includes securities listed on various markets, such as GBP-denominated equities from the London Stock Exchange, EUR-listed DAX stocks, and USD-denominated technology equities, with real-time data and digital onboarding features integrated into the platform.

CMC Markets views the German launch as a pivotal step toward establishing itself as a multi-asset broker. Previously active in the UK market, this new arrangement aims to replicate that model within Germany before extending to other European countries.

Upvest’s Role in the European Market

The partnership adds CMC Markets to Upvest’s roster of institutional clients and broadens the infrastructure provider’s presence into retail-focused multi-currency investment products. As EU and UK regulators intensify their oversight of retail investment access and cross-border financial services, infrastructure providers like Upvest play a crucial role in facilitating compliant, scalable product delivery for financial institutions operating across different jurisdictions.

For CMC Markets, the arrangement simplifies the process of launching regulated investment products in new markets. By leveraging Upvest’s existing infrastructure, it can accelerate its European expansion without having to build local custody and settlement capabilities from scratch.

Christine Romar, Head of Europe at CMC Markets Germany, notes that the autumn 2026 timeline for the German launch will be crucial in determining whether this model can efficiently replicate across other European markets, given their varied regulatory environments and investor preferences.
