Damisa, a UK-based B2B cross-border payment and settlement platform targeting emerging-market corridors, has teamed up with dLocal, a Nasdaq-listed cross-border payments platform that connects global merchants to emerging markets, to enhance local payment settlements in the Asia-Pacific region.

The strategic partnership streamlines integration between Damisa and dLocal’s extensive regional payment network through a single API, requiring no additional technical setup for current Damisa users.

Furthermore, this collaboration aims to allow Damisa’s merchant base direct access to local bank accounts in key APAC markets with one transparent fee. It offers real-time tracking and swift settlement within hours rather than days. dLocal supplies direct connections to local acquirers, more than 1,000 local payment methods such as cards, bank transfers, e-wallets, and mobile money, and ensures final-mile settlement into local bank accounts, bypassing the delays of correspondent banking chains.

Infrastructure model and market context

Damisa facilitates the collection, holding, and payout of both fiat currencies and stablecoins across over 70 currencies. Settlement occurs via regulated stablecoin rails while maintaining transparency for end users on the blockchain layer. dLocal brings local rail access and regulatory expertise to APAC markets where it operates, aiding Damisa’s regional expansion without necessitating merchants to establish local entities or manage separate processors.

According to projections, the APAC cross-border commerce market is forecasted to surpass USD 4 trillion by 2028. This growth is driven by the need for fast, reliable, and compliant B2B settlement infrastructure in a region marked by fragmented payment rails and complex local compliance requirements.

Thomas Pinter, Co-Founder and CCO at Damisa, emphasized that this partnership provides customers with access to new APAC markets without additional integration, aligning with the expansion goals of Damisa. Richard Healy, Commercial VP for APAC at dLocal, added that Damisa is addressing corridors that have been underserved for too long, and their collaboration sets a foundation for scaling these efforts.
