Thunes has extended its Direct Global Network to offer real-time Pay-to-Bank services in New Zealand.
This expansion permits NZD transfers to New Zealand bank accounts through direct API integration or existing Swift connections. It supports both consumer and business transactions.
The official press release mentions that New Zealand is upgrading its financial infrastructure to accommodate real-time digital trade and the expanding gig economy. Real-time transactions in the country are projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 21.3% until 2027, as reported by Thunes.
This addition positions New Zealand within Thunes’ established Asia-Pacific network, highlighting the company’s focus on regional expansion. The Direct Global Network now encompasses an additional market in the southern Pacific.
Technological Foundations and Compliance
The Thunes Direct Global Network operates with two proprietary systems: the SmartX Treasury System, which offers AI-driven forecasting and real-time liquidity management, and the Fortress Compliance Platform, equipped with over 50 licenses worldwide. These systems are applied to transactions processed through the New Zealand channel.
The integration of API-based connectivity alongside Swift interoperability aims to reduce the burden of setup for network members, especially those already utilizing correspondent banking infrastructure.
This development signifies increasing demand for faster and more transparent cross-border payment routes in the Asia-Pacific region. Network users can now direct NZD transactions through Thunes’ infrastructure without relying on additional intermediaries beyond existing connectivity options.
Thunes holds licenses across multiple jurisdictions, positioning it to meet regulated corridors as compliance standards evolve globally. The company will continue to align with evolving client needs and regulatory requirements.
