Tide and Gigs have unveiled Tide Business Phone Number, a mobile service integrated within the Tide app for UK small businesses.
In line with this development, both Tide, a leading business management platform in the UK, and Gigs, an embedded connectivity provider based in the US, have introduced Tide Business Phone Number (BPN), a mobile solution that can be managed directly from the Tide app. This service caters to small businesses by providing them with a dedicated business phone number alongside their existing banking tools.
This launch represents the first instance of a business banking platform integrating a full mobile plan, including a UK phone number, into its application. Currently, Tide serves around 800,000 UK members, accounting for approximately 14% of the small business market.
Simplifying Personal and Professional Communication
According to the official press release, the product is intended to help sole traders and small business owners who often use personal devices for both professional and private purposes. With Tide BPN, members can activate a business number via eSIM (without needing an additional device) either by registering a new number or porting an existing one. Users have the flexibility to switch between personal and business lines when making or receiving calls, with incoming calls clearly indicating their origin as either business or personal.
The service is included at no extra cost for members on Tide’s Smart, Pro, and Max subscription tiers, offering a business number with unlimited calls and texts. For those requiring mobile data, the Unlimited Boost plan provides unlimited 5G data and 10GB of EU roaming data for GBP 15 per month. This plan does not involve credit checks or annual price hikes, and users can cancel their subscription at any time through the app.
All billing is managed within the Tide platform, eliminating the need to handle separate provider relationships or contracts.
Integrating Connectivity as a Core Feature
The partnership with Gigs demonstrates a broader trend in fintech where business account providers expand into adjacent services like communications and telephony to enhance user engagement and reduce reliance on multiple third-party tools. By embedding mobile connectivity into the same app used for payments, invoicing, and account management, Tide positions BPN as an essential part of its overall operational toolkit rather than a separate product.
Gigs supplies the underlying connectivity infrastructure that powers this offering. A company representative noted that the collaboration aims to support entrepreneurs by integrating business formation, a business account, and mobile services into one seamless digital experience. This integration is now available to eligible Tide members in the UK.
