Bulgaria-based Payhawk has introduced new functionalities for its Financial Controller Agent, allowing it to fetch invoices directly from vendor portals, including those secured by Cloudflare, following employee authentication in a secure browser session.

Currently, this feature is in preview for certain customers and will be made available generally to all Payhawk users later in 2026 at no extra cost.

According to the company, its clients are expected to manage over 500,000 online invoices in 2026. At an estimated average processing time of about three minutes per invoice, Payhawk predicts that automation could save around four years of manual effort across its user base.

Overcoming a longstanding challenge in invoicing

For many finance teams, the process of collecting invoices from vendor portals is still largely manual and happens outside their financial systems. Employees typically log into these portals, find the relevant invoices, download them, and upload them separately to their expense platforms.

Payhawk’s Financial Controller Agent tackles this by searching through vendor portals, downloading the necessary invoices, automatically filling in required fields, and submitting them on behalf of users. The feature is designed to work with more than 60 systems, enabling real-time reconciliation and expense automation.

Hristo Borisov, co-founder and CEO of Payhawk, highlighted that retrieving invoices has been the most sought-after feature on their platform since it was launched in 2018. He explained that artificial intelligence agents handle the entire retrieval and coding process for users.

The integration with Cloudflare benefits from the company’s Verified Bots program, which uses HTTP message signatures to enable bots to securely authenticate themselves. Bryan Becker, Product Management Director at Cloudflare, underscored that this approach permits businesses to automate intricate workflows like invoice retrieval without jeopardizing site security or integrity.

Expanding agent functionalities

Payhawk is also broadening the reach of its delegation feature to include the Travel agent, which currently handles flight and hotel bookings. The company indicated that the Travel agent will soon start booking ground transportation upon arrival at a flight destination. Additional planned features encompass obtaining boarding passes, ordering ride services, and making purchases through their Procurement agent.
