In France, Ingenico, a major provider of payment acceptance and services, has teamed up with Visa to develop comprehensive commerce solutions. These solutions are aimed at enterprise retail businesses, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and the restaurant industry, as well as independent software vendors.

The collaboration leverages Ingenico’s Android-based AXIUM smart Point of Sale (POS) terminals along with Visa’s Acceptance Platform, which includes gateway and risk management services. A key aspect is a pre-certification framework that facilitates early technical validation against the Visa Acceptance Platform prior to deployment, thereby reducing time-to-market and decreasing complexity and costs associated with certification for both merchants and partners.

Omnichannel scope and industry coverage

The integrated solution is crafted to support omnichannel payment environments, drawing on Visa’s expertise in e-commerce coupled with Ingenico’s retail knowledge. By merging their capabilities, the partnership aims to offer a scalable platform for businesses looking to deliver uniform payment experiences across physical and digital domains.

This pre-certification process proves particularly beneficial for independent software vendors and technology partners building payment integrations, as it eliminates the necessity of each party separately navigating the certification process against the Visa Acceptance Platform. For merchants, this reduces integration complexity and related expenses, thus accelerating deployment timelines in various sectors.

This collaboration underscores the increasing need among businesses for a unified commerce infrastructure that unifies in-store and online payment acceptance under one technical framework, easing the operational challenges of managing separate systems and certifications across different channels.

Following this partnership announcement, Ingenico introduced its AXIUM device family and 360 cloud platform just one month earlier. These offerings are intended to serve as a foundational component for scalable enterprise payment operations and service deployment.

The AXIUM portfolio and the Ingenico 360 platform were concurrently developed with the intention of working seamlessly together, designed and engineered by the company’s teams in France.
