Visa has launched its Click to Pay solution in Vietnam, partnering with several banks and payment service providers to support this rollout. This feature allows for streamlined online transactions by securely storing payment credentials and eliminating the need for manual data entry during checkout.

Banks involved include Techcombank, VPBank, Vietcombank, VietinBank, and MB Bank. For customers of Techcombank and VPBank, Click to Pay is now available through their mobile banking applications or participating online merchants.

Merchants and Payment Platforms Integration

On the acceptance side, Click to Pay has been integrated by local acquirers and payment facilitators like Alepay Gateway (Ngan Luong Payment Gateway JSC), Payoo (VietUnion Online Services Corporation), Sacombank, and VietinBank. This integration brings Click to Pay functionality to merchants such as Galaxy Cinema, KOI Thé, and Mai Nguyen Electronics.

Through its partnership with Payoo, Visa is expanding the service across a wider merchant network, with additional merchants expected to adopt it in the coming months.

Click to Pay complies with EMVCo standards and utilizes the Visa Token Service (VTS) for replacing sensitive payment details like Primary Account Numbers with unique tokens. According to Visa data, tokenization helps reduce fraud and increase transaction approval rates in other Asia-Pacific markets.

Visa aims to align with Vietnam’s growing digital commerce infrastructure and national goals for cashless payments. Simplifying the online checkout process can enhance consumer convenience while potentially lowering shopping cart abandonment rates among merchants.

Findings from Visa’s Green Shoots Radar survey, based on responses from 1,000 respondents, indicate that widespread adoption of online shopping in Vietnam is prevalent, with 99% of participants reporting having made online purchases in the past year. Click to Pay enables users to verify their identity using a mobile number or email address, streamlining the purchase process without the need for repeated entry of payment or shipping details.
