Verifone and PagBrasil have collaborated to introduce an international Pix Payment solution for Brazilian customers shopping in the United States.
This partnership will allow Brazilian shoppers to make payments in their local currency (BRL) using Pix, enhancing convenience while they shop abroad. Simultaneously, it provides US merchants and businesses with a new payment method to accept from Brazilian customers.
Key Details of the Partnership
Verifone and PagBrasil signed an exclusive agreement that grants Verifone the sole rights to offer International Pix payments in the United States. This arrangement ensures a seamless integration process for merchants, as they can activate International Pix at the point-of-sale (POS) using Verifone’s hardware-agnostic, gateway-agnostic API without needing to upgrade existing systems.
By enabling Brazilian tourists to pay in their local currency through International Pix, this initiative aims to reduce foreign exchange conversion fees and taxes per transaction. This not only provides a smoother payment experience but also encourages discretionary spending and repeat purchases among customers.
Moreover, the partnership is expected to benefit US merchants by lowering processing costs and minimizing chargebacks since International Pix transactions via Verifone are processed at approximately 2% with no additional fees. As real-time bank-to-bank transfers, Pix payments also help in reducing the risk of chargebacks.
Both companies will focus on optimizing how merchants capture more international spending and enhancing customer satisfaction or loyalty to stay ahead in today’s competitive retail environment.
