Unlimit has been authorised by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate under a Payment Aggregator – Cross Border licence, which will permit it to handle cross-border transactions.
This new licence allows Indian merchants using Unlimit to accept international payments and for global merchants to process transactions from Indian customers through UPI, card, or local payment methods. This move follows the company’s receipt of its domestic Payment Aggregator licence in India a year ago, further solidifying its presence in the market.
Facilitating Expansion for Local Businesses
Unlimit enables merchants within the country to tap into international markets and customer bases by leveraging over 1,000 payment methods across more than 150 currencies in over 180 countries. This global outreach simplifies the process of accessing multiple providers.
The PA-CB licence permits Unlimit to manage end-to-end cross-border payment processes within RBI’s regulatory guidelines, including payment acceptance, international settlements, and foreign exchange transactions. This supports both import and export operations, making it easier for merchants to expand while offering a unified payment solution across borders.
With the e-commerce market in India growing at an annual rate of 27%, reaching an estimated USD 163 billion by 2026, Unlimit is well-positioned to support Indian businesses as they navigate this dynamic landscape. India’s fast-growing payment ecosystem, driven by increased UPI usage, broader internet access, and enhanced cross-border trade, further underscores the importance of robust payment infrastructure.
Accelerating Growth
Unlimit views India as a crucial market for its growth strategy due to its rapid expansion. Securing a cross-border licence in this region is seen as a key move that will help the company scale more effectively and efficiently, supporting clients who wish to operate internationally.
