Tide has introduced an accessible cash ISA for sole traders in the UK, integrating tax-free savings into its existing business management platform.

This Tide Cash ISA offers a variable interest rate of 3.25% AER on annual contributions up to GBP 20,000, aligning with the current UK ISA allowance. Deposits are instantly accessible without penalty and require no separate application beyond using the Tide platform. Eligible funds are protected up to GBP 120,000 under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), powered by ClearBank.

Expanding savings options for the self-employed

Following the introduction of Tide’s Instant Saver in 2023, this launch underscores a continuous effort to provide a broader range of financial tools for small business owners. By merging the cash ISA directly with the primary application used for daily business operations, Tide positions itself as an all-in-one solution that consolidates personal wealth building and business financial management.

Designed specifically for sole traders, this product addresses a segment of the self-employed market often lacking the separation between personal and business finances found in limited companies. For these individuals, managing tax-efficient savings alongside their business accounts within one interface is particularly beneficial, given the UK ISA framework as an accessible means to save tax-free.

Tide currently supports over 800,000 small businesses across the UK, representing about 14% of the market. A company representative stated that this product aims to offer a simple, tax-efficient savings option with the flexibility to withdraw funds as needed.

Integrating a regulated savings vehicle into its business management platform reflects Tide’s strategy in targeting SMEs and the self-employed by bundling financial services. As an all-in-one platform for small business finances, the cash ISA represents a logical addition to Tide’s existing offerings, though it’s important to note that returns are variable.
