Thunes, a cross-border payments network headquartered in Singapore, has announced that its Pay-to-Stablecoin-Wallets solution is now available to over 11,500 financial institutions connected to the Swift network. This expansion allows these banks to send real-time payments directly to stablecoin wallets worldwide through their existing Swift infrastructure, without needing extra technical integration.
Thunes announced this development in an official press release, highlighting that it enables Swift-connected banks to facilitate instant, cross-border payments to more than 500 million stablecoin wallets globally.
Overview of the Pay-to-Stablecoin-Wallets Solution
This service, launched by Thunes in October 2025 and currently supporting USDC and USDT, enables banks and their customers to initiate instantaneous, round-the-clock cross-border transactions to stablecoin wallets across over 140 countries. Use cases include salary distributions, international remittances, and business transfers, ensuring that recipients can access funds immediately, regardless of local banking hours or currency fluctuations.
Technical Foundation
The Pay-to-Stablecoin-Wallets solution rests on Thunes’ SmartX Treasury System for managing fiat-to-stablecoin liquidity and its Fortress Compliance Platform, offering comprehensive security and transaction traceability. By leveraging Swift connectivity to route stablecoin payouts, Thunes bridges the gap between traditional banking infrastructure and the digital asset ecosystem, streamlining processes without requiring banks to establish or maintain direct blockchain integrations.
This expansion builds on Thunes’ existing suite of Swift-accessible solutions, which previously included Pay-to-Bank and Pay-to-Wallet offerings. The new stablecoin payout capability adds a digital asset rail within the same connectivity framework as fiat-based infrastructure, further enhancing its service scope.
The adoption of this solution is particularly significant in light of growing interest in stablecoins for cross-border payments, due to their features such as instant settlement, 24/7 availability, and reduced exposure to local currency volatility. By integrating with the established Swift network, Thunes addresses a major barrier to widespread bank adoption of stablecoin-based payment systems.
Recently, Thunes collaborated with Absa to launch Absa Global Pay for cross-border remittances. This digital service allows Absa customers to send money internationally via the Absa Banking App or Absa Online platform.
