The Payments Group (TPG) has collaborated with Bluecode to launch a regional prepaid mobile payment solution for EEA residents. This partnership positions TPG as the first issuer of the Bluecode payment scheme across Europe, providing a locally developed alternative to major card networks.
Enhanced Payment Accessibility and Flexibility
This innovative solution allows users to top up their mobile wallets via SEPA transfers, credit or debit cards, or cash at over 550,000 retail locations. The prepaid balance can be used for transactions worldwide.
Designed with spending control in mind, the service eliminates the use of credit and minimizes exposure to overspending risks. User funds and data are managed locally within the European regulatory environment, ensuring greater security and privacy.
Broadening Payment Infrastructure
The mobile payment product is accessible via the Bluecode app with a simple activation process. According to TPG representatives, it enables EEA residents to make digital payments without needing a traditional bank account or passing credit checks. Users can track their transactions within the app and enjoy additional services.
Bluecode officials highlighted that this partnership supports efforts to establish a European-controlled payments framework through prepaid infrastructure and regional technology. The combined solution aims to enhance payment access for users both at home and abroad, especially in areas with limited reach of conventional card-based systems.
The companies plan to expand their collaboration by integrating prepaid payment functionality into third-party applications used by retailers and travel services.
