The City of London Police has made Report Fraud, a comprehensive national reporting service for cybercrime and fraud in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, accessible to the public.
This initiative integrates various existing reporting channels into one platform aimed at centralizing both victim reports and intelligence processing. Currently, offences involving cybercrime and fraud represent approximately half of all recorded crimes in the United Kingdom, with annual costs estimated in billions. These criminal activities impact individuals, small businesses, and large organizations alike, growing increasingly intricate and borderless in nature.
Unified Reporting and Intelligence Management
Report Fraud streamlines the intake, categorization, and analysis of reported incidents. Information submitted via this platform is centrally evaluated; critical or complex cases are prioritized for specialized investigation, with relevant intelligence shared among different police forces.
Representatives from the City of London Police stated that the system has been crafted to simplify the submission process and provide clarity on what happens post-reporting. They have also highlighted its role in supporting a national strategy aimed at combating fraud, preventing crimes, and enhancing readiness.
Government officials underscored Report Fraud as an essential tool for enhancing victim assistance while bolstering law enforcement efforts to investigate organized fraud networks. They noted that individual reports contribute to broader intelligence used for identifying patterns and disrupting criminal enterprises.
The City of London Police Authority further described the launch as a transformation in how fraud-related intelligence is collected and utilized at scale, considering the force’s nationwide remit for handling such cases and its connections with financial institutions and regulatory bodies.
Funding for this platform has been partly provided by the City of London Corporation, which invested GBP 13.2 million in development and committed to a yearly operational budget of GBP 2.5 million. A national awareness campaign was launched mid-January 2026, aiming to promote public use of this new reporting service.
