Affirm and Shopify have furthered their international partnership by introducing Shop Pay Installments in the United Kingdom, giving merchants an expanded payment option for consumers.

Enhancing Payment Solutions for Shoppers

Affirm and Shopify aim to assist UK-based businesses in providing flexible payment options that match consumer preferences, ensuring no late or hidden fees are charged. Following an early access program for UK Shopify merchants in October 2025, many have turned on Shop Pay Installments, indicating high demand.

Shop Pay Installments enable customers to divide eligible purchases into monthly payments. If approved, users can select interest-free or interest-bearing payment plans tailored to their needs. Affirm assesses each transaction for approval before making a real-time credit decision and performs an underwriting process to ensure the ability to repay.

Positive Outcomes from Early Access

Abbott Lyon reported improved results after integrating Shop Pay Installments during early access, according to Giorgia Pepe, Head of Websites. Orders placed through this method showed a 20% higher average order value (AOV) than other payment methods and a 16% higher AOV compared to other payment plan providers. Refund rates also saw a significant decline.

Shop Pay Installments in the UK is part of Affirm and Shopify’s broader strategy, which currently supports flexible payments across the United States and Canada. Future plans include extending this solution to Australia and Western Europe as well.

Focusing on Transparent Global Solutions

Ruth Spratt, Vice President and UK Country Manager at Affirm, stated that as consumers demand more choice and flexibility at checkout, businesses must adapt. The partnership between Affirm and Shopify aims to meet these needs while maintaining transparency and avoiding late or hidden fees. Affirm’s plans include expanding its collaboration with Shopify to build a globally transparent payment network that supports responsible consumer spending and business growth.
