Flutterwave’s remittance service, Send App, has recently expanded its footprint in the United States and resumed support for significant card networks such as AMEX and Discover.
This move is part of a broader update to the company’s cross-border payments platform. The company indicated that these changes will apply to users sending funds from the US, UK, and several European countries to African markets including Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, and Cameroon.
Representatives from Flutterwave mentioned that this expansion aims to simplify transfers for individuals in the diaspora who frequently use the service for regular payments. They stated that the enhanced coverage across the US and renewed acceptance of major cards will make the service more accessible to a broader audience. The representatives also noted that these updates aim to reduce difficulties related to geographic distance and payment method availability.
Enhanced Service with Compliance Measures
The Send App updates are underpinned by internal compliance processes, operational monitoring, and robust security controls designed to adhere to applicable regulatory standards. These measures are intended to enhance settlement times, improve service reliability, and provide users with clearer transaction visibility.
Beyond remittances, Flutterwave continues to develop other financial tools such as virtual accounts and methods for transferring digital assets. The company is also exploring stablecoin-based transfers as part of its ongoing efforts to support cross-border transactions, building on previous collaborations with Polygon and the Circle Payment Network.
Flutterwave believes that these updates will strengthen its market position in a competitive remittance sector serving Africa-focused corridors.
Operating from within Africa, Flutterwave provides payment infrastructure for businesses and supports local and international transactions through its API. The company operates in 34 African countries and processes card payments, mobile wallets, bank transfers, and other digital payment methods for various commercial partners.
