Revolut has introduced AIR, their first consumer-oriented AI assistant, which facilitates in-app financial management through conversational interactions.

AIR enables users to handle a variety of financial tasks via dialogue within the Revolut app. Features include spending insights, investment monitoring, subscription handling, and card deactivation. The assistant also supports travel-related features such as trip budgeting and eSIM purchases directly from within the application. Customers can interact with AIR by swiping down from the center of the app’s main screen.

Revolut has noted that AIR does not store user data and can access only information already visible to the customer, encompassing transactions, investments, and card details.

From Concept to Realization

The idea for AIR was first shared at Revolut’s Revolutionaries event in November 2024. In June of that year, the UK chief executive hinted that an AI financial assistant would be launched soon.

The launch coincides with the establishment of a dedicated AI unit within Revolut, which has been recruiting professionals for roles including AI-powered personal assistants, voice products, call center agents, and outbound sales teams. AIR is one part of a broader product expansion that includes the development of credit cards, savings accounts, and mortgage services across different markets.

Strategic Implications

The integration of an AI conversational layer into a consumer banking application signals a larger trend among digital financial service providers aiming to streamline account management, spending analysis, and transactional functions in one interface. For Revolut, holding a UK banking license, AIR repositions the product offering closer to that of full-service retail banking, where personal financial guidance is traditionally provided by human advisors or through structured product dashboards.

The current rollout is confined to the UK, though no specific timeline for expansion into other regions has been announced.
