Razorpay has introduced a feature called CardSync, which allows CRED credit card holders to make online payments without re-entering their card details.
Developed in collaboration with CRED and Visa, this system enables customers to use their saved cards on any merchant site that uses Razorpay’s payment gateway.
Built upon Visa’s tokenization framework, CardSync connects existing CRED cards to Razorpay Checkout. This setup facilitates streamlined transactions for returning users by eliminating the need to type in card numbers, CVV codes, or one-time passwords for subsequent purchases, as these details are securely stored in a tokenized format.
Improving Transaction Success and Payment Experience
The initiative aims to address common causes of abandoned transactions such as missing or incorrectly entered card information, expired cards, or issues related to OTP timeouts. According to Razorpay data, these problems contribute to about 40% of card payment failures. By reducing the need for manual input, CardSync is expected to enhance both transaction success rates and overall payment experiences.
During a purchase on a Razorpay-enabled merchant site, first-time users are prompted to sync their CRED card. After authentication and tokenization, the card becomes usable across the Razorpay network for repeat transactions.
Razorpay’s Other Developments
In June 2025, Razorpay invested USD 30 million in POP, acquiring a majority stake. This move was aimed at expanding into India’s consumer UPI market and addressing two key challenges: high customer acquisition costs for merchants and the lack of rewards for customers.
The investment was intended to help D2C (Direct-to-Consumer) merchants more efficiently. The D2C space in the region currently needs new tools to boost loyalty, trust, and repeat purchases, which POP can provide through its combination of instant rewards, easy payment methods, and brand discovery features.
