Indian payment aggregator Razorpay has introduced Apple Pay for international payments.
As Indian businesses expand globally, offering seamless and secure checkout experiences is crucial. With this integration, international sellers can provide global customers with a familiar payment option directly within their Razorpay checkout process.
Integration Process
The initiative aims to reduce cart abandonment rates by enhancing the trustworthiness of the payment experience through Apple’s 1-tap authentication using Face ID or Touch ID. This makes payments quicker and more secure for users.
Note that Apple Pay is widely used by iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch owners around the world, which helps in building customer recognition and confidence.
Data from global merchants indicates that enabling Apple Pay can boost conversion rates by 58%. According to Razorpay, those using their service for international payments have seen a success rate increase of 90% after integrating Apple Pay. This new feature complements existing payment methods like Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, and Diners Club.
Activation Process
To activate Apple Pay on Razorpay’s International Payments platform, users with the Standard Checkout must complete a form found here. The process is straightforward and will integrate Apple Pay into their account.
For users of ecommerce platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, or Magento, completing the same form will guide them through the necessary steps to embed Apple Pay on their Razorpay International Payments account. A step-by-step guide for custom or S2S library users will be available shortly.
To adhere to Apple’s guidelines, all users must follow specific instructions for displaying the Apple Pay button and logo at checkout here.
