Privalgo B.V., a subsidiary of the UK-based Privalgo Group, has received an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), which is the central bank of the Netherlands. This license aligns with the European Electronic Money Directive (EMD2) and the Payment Services Directive (PSD2).

How Will the EMI License Benefit Privalgo?

With this new authorization, Privalgo can now issue electronic money, provide payment accounts, and conduct payment transactions within one of Europe’s most sophisticated regulatory frameworks. The company aims to establish its European headquarters in Amsterdam, leveraging the passporting mechanism to deliver services across the EU.

The entry into the Dutch regulatory framework will enable Privalgo to extend its offerings, including personalized foreign exchange and digital wallet solutions, to a broader market within the European Union. Previously available only via Privalgo Ltd in the UK, these services can now be accessed throughout the EU, under a regime that aligns well with Privalgo’s long-term strategic goals.

As a result of this move, Privalgo plans to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), corporates, and individuals across Europe. The EMI license ensures compliance with high standards in transparency, security, and regulatory oversight. Representatives from the company highlighted that their decision to base its European operations in Amsterdam is driven by strategic location, an international business culture, a progressive regulatory environment, access to skilled talent, optimal connectivity, and a modern financial ecosystem.

This move is significant for Privalgo’s ambition to become a global full-service financial provider. Additionally, it opens the door for further expansion into multiple European markets in the future.
