This trend can be observed through recent moves by major companies such as Maersk, which has ventured into trade finance by investing in a German technology platform called Modifi. This platform offers digital import and export financing solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Another example is Singapore-based Incomlend, an invoice finance platform, which recently introduced a new service under the name Shipfin Trade Finance. This platform aims to provide trade finance services to clients of the shipping and logistics giant CMA CGM across 160 countries.
