The platform
This integration enables merchants using Pay. to accept direct account-to-account payments from consumers across Europe, now available as part of the business package.
Brite functions as a Swedish Open Banking provider, connecting over 3,800 banks in various European markets, reaching an estimated 350 million bank customers. Payments are initiated directly from consumers’ online banking interfaces, leveraging local bank authentication processes rather than requiring separate apps or manual input of payment details.
The introduction of Brite aims to enhance the range of payment options for merchants, catering to regional preferences and customer behavior. Transactions proceed directly between bank accounts without relying on traditional card networks.
Activation Process
Mercers can activate the Brite feature through Pay.’s existing merchant dashboard. By selecting Brite within their sales location settings, merchants confirm registration and receive platform-issued confirmation once the process is complete.
The activation does not necessitate additional technical integration for merchants already using Pay., and payments via Brite are immediately available post-activation.
Brite’s approach aligns with broader trends in Europe’s Open Banking ecosystem, where regulated access to bank infrastructure under PSD2 has spurred the development of alternative payment solutions. These offerings often serve merchants seeking cost-efficient transaction channels or those needing region-specific options.
