HBX Group has partnered with Outpayce, the payments subsidiary of Amadeus, to enhance its fintech infrastructure and improve digital payment management for travel buyers and sellers.
As part of this strategic alliance, HBX Group will utilize Outpayce’s cloud-based financial technology platform to introduce a Payment Programme that aims to streamline and automate the payment processes between travel agencies and various partners such as hotels, airlines, travel aggregators, and destination service providers. Additionally, Outpayce will act as HBX Group’s key virtual card issuing partner.
Capabilities and scope of the platform
The platform merges issuing capabilities with specialized travel functionalities, offering enhanced reconciliation and robust cybersecurity measures. Travel partners within the HBX Group network will benefit from issued virtual cards by Outpayce, real-time data analytics, and seamless integration with the Outpayce B2B Wallet, along with a dedicated portal for reporting and settlement purposes.
Both companies are planning to expand this solution to cover inbound payment streams, working toward creating an entirely integrated payments ecosystem. HBX Group has begun using the Outpayce B2B Wallet to facilitate supplier payments, which currently handles billions of euros in annual transactions.
This partnership underscores the growing trend in B2B travel payments, addressing longstanding challenges such as manual reconciliation and fragmented settlement processes through increased automation.
According to Daniel Nordholm, Chief Information Officer at HBX Group, this collaboration is intended to modernize financial procedures, automate operations at scale, and unlock greater efficiencies throughout the entire travel supply chain. He notes that positive impacts are already visible within trade partner flows.
Sam Abdou, CEO of Outpayce, highlighted this agreement as a key milestone in his company’s strategy to obtain an e-money license and develop a cloud-native issuing platform tailored for the travel industry. He mentioned that virtual card issuance is already operating at scale, with plans underway for pay-in scenarios.
