Romania-based online payments processor Netopia Payments has recently integrated Click to Pay with Passkey FIDO, a modern online checkout solution.

Passkey FIDO: A Safer and Faster Checkout Solution

Passkey FIDO (Fast Identity Online) is an online checkout solution built on EMV global standards, designed to enhance the digital payment experience for users. It offers a safer, faster method of processing payments without the need for manual card data entry.

Mastercard’s Support and Implementation

The integration is supported by Mastercard, which enables the rollout and promotion of Click to Pay across Romania. This aligns with Netopia Payments’ strategy to accelerate digitalization in e-commerce and provide advanced payment technologies to businesses in Eastern Europe.

Advantages of Click to Pay

Click to Pay streamlines the payment process by eliminating the need for manual entry of card numbers (PANs) or temporary authentication codes. Customers can easily choose a saved card and authorize transactions within seconds directly on the merchant’s checkout page, reducing cart abandonment and improving conversion rates.

Biometric Authentication via Passkey

Passkey is an advanced authentication method that uses biometrics (fingerprint or facial recognition) or a device PIN instead of passcodes or one-time passwords (OTPs). Payment data is stored locally on the user’s device, enhancing both convenience and security. This solution is preferred by more than 50% of online shoppers due to its ease of use.

Rollout Schedule and Integration

Click to Pay will be available to all merchants partnering with Netopia Payments by Black Friday 2025. The solution can be easily integrated into the checkout page without requiring additional infrastructure.
