myPOS has recently extended its Tap to Pay functionality on iPhone to Romania and Slovakia, bringing the service to a total of 15 European markets via the myPOS Glass app.
Following this update, myPOS, a Bulgaria-based payment services provider, has now made contactless payments accessible through the myPOS Glass application in these two countries. This expansion follows successful rollouts in other major markets such as the UK, France, and Germany, allowing merchants to accept both contactless card and digital wallet payments on their iPhone without additional hardware.
Soft POS adoption in Europe
Tap to Pay on iPhone, an Apple framework that facilitates NFC-based payments on iPhones, has been gaining traction among European payment service providers since its initial introduction. This feature was designed for smaller merchants and mobile operators as a way to simplify the process of accepting contactless payments by eliminating the need for dedicated card reader equipment.
Through the myPOS Glass app, merchants can now leverage this technology to accept various forms of payment directly on their iPhone. The company claims that settlements are both rapid and cost-free for the merchant.
The expansion into Romania and Slovakia, along with other markets like Spain, marks a significant step in myPOS’s strategy to compete across diverse segments in Europe. By adding Girocard integration, myPOS aims to address gaps in certain markets where domestic payment schemes are essential for broad merchant acceptance.
