Mastercard has launched Mastercard Fleet: Next Gen, a comprehensive suite of payment solutions tailored for fleet operators in the Asia Pacific region.

This initiative specifically targets small and medium-sized enterprises as well as larger logistics companies, with the aim to enhance visibility into expenses, manage transactions, and integrate data from various sources such as fuel, maintenance, electric vehicle charging, and tolling payments.

Furthermore, the platform seeks to unify payment data scattered across multiple systems, allowing fleet managers to easily reconcile accounts and detect any unusual activities.

Market Context and Solution Architecture

According to the official press release, the Asia Pacific market for fleet management is forecasted to grow at an 18% compound annual growth rate until 2030. Fleet operators in this region are facing challenges such as cost pressures, sustainability demands, and compliance requirements while dealing with intricate payment systems.

Mastercard Fleet: Next Gen was developed to offer network-based data capture at the point of sale, adhering to global standards. The platform supports digital card issuance for vehicles and drivers, facilitating contactless and mobile payments, as well as specialized virtual card solutions designed for fleet-specific needs.

Global acceptance is available across a wide range of entities including fuel stations, electric vehicle charging networks, maintenance providers, and tolling systems. The solutions also interface with mobility platforms, acquirer networks, and fleet management tools, providing a holistic approach to payment management.

Fleet programme owners can set up authorization controls by specifying parameters such as vehicles, drivers, merchant categories, locations, times, and transaction amounts. The platform features real-time monitoring for fraud detection and enforcing spend policies effectively.

Mastercard views the launch of Mastercard Fleet: Next Gen as part of its broader strategy to unite disjointed business-to-business payment flows through a unified infrastructure. It also remains committed to simplifying B2B payments by connecting fragmented commercial ecosystems via a single, reliable platform and aiding businesses of all sizes in thriving within complex operational landscapes.
