Bank ABC’s ila Bank has transferred its digital operations to the Temenos core banking platform, which is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The implementation was carried out by Systems Limited.
The Swiss-based technology provider announced that the first phase of the core banking transformation program at Bank ABC is now complete. This migration includes ila Bank’s retail accounts and lending operations as well as the Temenos Payments and Data Hub modules.
Ila Bank, established in 2019 as a mobile-only operation in Bahrain, serves customers nationwide and across the wider Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The bank aims to enhance financial inclusion through digital channels.
Cloud-native Architecture Facilitates Regional Expansion
The Temenos platform is running on AWS infrastructure, featuring an API-first design intended to support rapid product launches and third-party integrations. This technology is expected to help ila Bank expand its customer base and introduce new services using Open Banking capabilities.
Systems Limited, a global system integrator and partner for Temenos implementation, handled the setup and now provides ongoing managed services for the platform. Based in Pakistan, this firm specializes in cloud deployments for financial institutions operating across multiple jurisdictions.
This transition marks the first phase of a larger initiative at Bank ABC, which operates in 15 countries across the MENA region, Europe, the Americas, and Asia. The bank aims to integrate multiple backend systems onto the Temenos platform, with the goal of creating unified customer data across its international operations.
The move towards a single core banking system is expected to streamline operational processes for Bank ABC’s geographic footprint. The platform will provide cross-border visibility into customer relationships and simplify technology infrastructure across the group’s various entities.
