DCSL is working in partnership with Prime Bank Limited (PBL) to implement the Prime Cash program. This initiative covers approximately 76 percent of Bangladesh’s population, estimated at 150 million people, aiming to offer safe banking access to those who currently lack such services across both rural and urban areas.
As part of this effort, DCSL has installed DG-ePay Service Points in key public locations throughout the country. Individuals can sign up and create accounts at any of these service points. Biometric verification, including facial recognition and fingerprint scanning, is used to confirm user transactions. These Gemalto smart cards store a personal digital record of the enrollee’s facial image and biometric data.
A recent announcement from Gemalto’s News noted that the company has secured an agreement with Russian mobile network MTS for supplying high-end NFC SIM cards, known as UpTeq NFC, to support a mobile-based public transport ticketing system in Novosibirsk.
