TrueLayer, a European payments network, has expanded its Pay by Bank feature to Finland through Kustom Checkout and Stripe.

This partnership brings localized, instant bank payment options directly to 24,000 online merchants in the Nordics via Kustom Checkout. Leveraging TrueLayer’s Open Banking technology and Stripe’s global payments infrastructure, this enhances checkout experiences for consumers.

The initiative is slated to launch in January 2026, making it available across all Kustom merchants shortly thereafter.

Expanding in Finland

In 2025, TrueLayer, as a Stripe investor, launched Pay by Bank across the UK, France, and Germany. This new entry into Finland marks an extension of their mission to simplify secure and cost-efficient bank payments for more European markets.

Finland was chosen due to its high rate of online banking usage, making it one of the leading countries in Pay by Bank adoption across Europe.

Collaborating with Kustom and Stripe, TrueLayer aims to provide Finnish consumers with a localized payment experience that aligns with their preferences. This new feature will offer additional payment flexibility for online merchants, streamlining the checkout process and enhancing customer satisfaction by allowing direct bank account payments without manual card details entry.

Additional Market Expansion

Also in September 2025, TrueLayer introduced its Pay by Bank service in Poland, introducing the Polish Zloty as the third supported currency alongside GBP and EUR. This marked Poland as their 22nd live market, further solidifying TrueLayer’s presence as a leading Pay by Bank provider across Europe.
