Cross-border payment startup EximPe has received a Payment Aggregator Cross-Border (PA-CB) In-Principle licence from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
EximPe’s achievement
This marks EximPe as one of the first companies to secure this new regulatory authorization without existing payment licenses. With this license, EximPe is positioned to enable compliant cross-border pay-ins and pay-outs for digital services, e-commerce, and B2B goods trade, serving businesses across Asian emerging markets.
As a cross-border payments platform, EximPe offers real-time rate booking, compliance, and trade documentation for businesses. Currently, the company supports a wide range of global trading entities.
EximPe’s development strategy
The PA-CB license will enable EximPe to enhance its cross-border payment capabilities and improve compliance for international trade businesses. This will allow the company to transform from a technology platform that supports cross-border payments into a fully regulated infrastructure provider, assisting diverse sectors such as e-commerce, digital services, and manufacturing.
EximPe has processed approximately USD 450 million in transactions and serves over 5,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), manufacturers, and service providers. With this new RBI license, the company aims to further solidify its position as a key player in cross-border payment infrastructure by scaling up its services.
Impact of Cross-border Payments in India
According to recent data from Razorpay, India’s international trade and digital service exports are expected to grow significantly by 2025. This growth is likely to increase engagement in cross-border commerce for businesses within the region, making efficient management of B2B cross-border payments essential for their success.
