Edenred Payment Solutions has teamed up with Hnry, a tax automation and accounting service for freelance workers.
The collaboration involves Edenred Payment Solutions providing a range of B2B BaaS features to enhance the functionality of Hnry’s platform. This partnership marks Hnry’s expansion into the UK market following its initial launches in New Zealand and Australia. Hnry provides bespoke solutions for freelancers, contractors, and other independent workers navigating business administration, taxes, and expense management.
Making self-employment streamlined
With the UK government’s plan to activate Making Tax Digital in April 2026, sole proprietors are seeking more efficient tax management tools. Across the country, there are approximately 2.9 million sole proprietorships, indicating the significance of this business structure in the UK.
Hnry assists these self-employed individuals by offering a dedicated account and automated deduction and payment services to HMRC on their behalf. This automation reduces the complexity and cost associated with traditional accounting practices.
By utilizing Hnry, sole traders can benefit from automatic tax calculations and payments through the Hnry Account. This eliminates the need for manual processes and external accountants. Additionally, they gain access to financial management tools tailored to their specific needs.
In order to facilitate this feature, Edenred Payment Solutions provides Hnry with regulatory coverage as an FCA-authorised e-money institution, virtual Mastercard cards that support Google Pay and Apple Pay, e-money accounts with sort code and account number, and access to Faster Payments, BACS, and CHAPS. The company also supplies payment processing and fraud monitoring services, real-time notifications, compliance procedures, and BIN sponsorship.
Hnry chose Edenred Payment Solutions due to its regulatory expertise, technical capabilities, market knowledge, licensing capabilities, and speed of execution in a highly regulated environment. This partnership is crucial for Hnry as it aims to make self-employment simple and affordable. According to the company, Hnry’s customers in New Zealand and Australia have reported spending 70% less time and 75% less money on tax and financial administration compared to the average sole trader.
