Deutsche Bank has announced plans to integrate the European payment solution Wero into its payment acceptance offering.
Merchant Solutions Acceptance Division
As part of the market launch of Wero in Germany, Deutsche Bank’s Merchant Solutions division will start accepting payments through this account-to-account digital payment solution. This division specializes in addressing businesses’ needs, from online shops to multinational corporations, and includes solutions specifically designed for ecommerce.
Optimizing Payments Across Europe
In line with its objectives in the payment space, Deutsche Bank aims to allow clients to accept Wero payments in all participating countries after the go-live. These countries include Germany, Belgium, and France, and the financial institution plans a roll out in the Netherlands and Luxembourg shortly.
According to representatives from Deutsche Bank, embedding Wero will enable the bank to provide modern and secure payment solutions that are competitive with current international methods. Wero is expected to become one of the core local payment methods for clients. The offering extends beyond conventional merchants to include market integrators and aggregators such as fintech companies and payment service providers (PSPs). Early interest from clients has shown promise, with Deutsche Bank aiming to launch Wero acceptance before its official rollout in collaboration with some clients.
Deutsche Bank’s Recent Collaborations
The integration of Wero follows Deutsche Bank’s recent partnership with Bolt. The financial institution plans to launch card acquiring services in Europe and the UK, using Silverflow’s payment infrastructure for technical processing. Deutsche Bank will act as the card acquirer for Bolt, providing the necessary regulatory framework to process card transactions through Visa and Mastercard.
