CRDB Bank has partnered with BPC to transition its acquiring and issuing systems to BPC’s SmartVista platform.

Following this partnership, CRDB Bank aims to expand its operations across Tanzania, Burundi, and DR Congo. This move aligns with the bank’s commitment to providing secure and optimized banking experiences to its customers.

The migration process will enable CRDB Bank to unify its multi-country ecosystem under a microservices architecture, enhancing operational efficiency while remaining compliant with national regulations and international scheme certifications. Additionally, both institutions will continue to prioritize meeting client needs and preferences in an evolving market.

According to the official press release, BPC successfully migrated the issuing and acquiring functionality of CRDB Bank and its subsidiaries and affiliates, including Amana, Vision Fund, and KCBL. The revamped card-issuing capabilities now extend to various types of cards, such as corporate, virtual, proprietary, loyalty, and specialized cards like fuel and hospital cards. Internationally branded cards, including Visa, Mastercard, and UPI, are also supported.

On the acquiring side, CRDB Bank will be able to accept global brands across its entire POS network. This includes cardless withdrawals, foreign exchange at ATMs, and enhanced services such as utility payments and dynamic currency conversion. Leveraging SmartVista’s integration capabilities, CRDB Bank has connected its core modules with Simbanking (its mobile banking service) and Wakala (agency banking), ensuring secure, efficient, and omnichannel experiences for customers.

Through the adoption of BPC’s platform, CRDB Bank will benefit from a new modular infrastructure designed to integrate all applications and ensure compliance with international schemes and PCI-DSS standards. The process also allows for instant onboarding of affiliate institutions and provides flexibility for ongoing developments.
