CredAble, a global platform for working capital technology, has teamed up with Citi to enhance the digitization of trade finance controls and improve post-disbursement invoice validation in international markets.

Key Objectives

The collaboration aims at boosting transparency, compliance, and operational efficiency within digital trade finance and working capital financing ecosystems.

A white-label technology solution from CredAble will be integrated into Citi’s digital trade loan process. This platform introduces a structured verification layer to support invoice authenticity checks and mitigate risks related to fraud, duplication, and data inaccuracies. This benefit is extended to both corporate clients and their suppliers by offering an end-to-end digital workflow with minimal manual intervention.

Verification Process

Invoices are validated against government-backed digital public infrastructure. The platform cross-checks over ten critical fields including invoice numbers, transaction values, dates, tax identifiers, and transport details to enhance audit readiness, reduce exception handling, and strengthen internal controls for businesses operating in various jurisdictions.

Despite global trade finance being predominantly paper-based, with industry estimates suggesting more than 70% of transactions still relying on manual documentation, the gap between digital adoption and necessity is highlighted. The Asian Development Bank reports that the global trade finance shortfall reached over USD 2.5 trillion recently, disproportionately impacting small and medium-sized suppliers. Digitization and automation are increasingly seen as crucial for addressing this gap, reducing processing costs, and accelerating liquidity access.

Automated invoice validation platforms can cut down processing times by more than half while enhancing data accuracy and compliance outcomes. For instance, manual verification processes contribute to delays of up to 10-15 days in trade loan disbursements, whereas automated systems significantly reduce these latencies.

User Experience

The CredAble-powered solution offers a centralized administrative dashboard for corporate clients, providing comprehensive visibility across suppliers and financed invoices. This reduces manual follow-ups, improves invoice quality, and supports more consistent working capital flows. The design focuses on user-friendliness, aligning with Citi’s broader digital trade and working capital solutions strategy.
