The Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) remittance market is expected to reach USD 1 trillion by 2027. However, funding these transfers has traditionally relied on expensive card payments, leading to high processing fees and failed transactions due to limitations of card schemes.

According to the official press release, this collaboration represents a significant advancement in the digital transformation of financial services in the UAE. By adopting real-time payment infrastructure, Careem Pay and Lean Technologies are facilitating faster, more dependable, and secure money transfers for customers. This supports broader initiatives aimed at promoting financial inclusion, cashless growth, and economic development outlined in the UAE’s Digital Economy Strategy.

The collaboration centers on shared commitments to delivering optimized financial services that enhance customer experiences in today’s digital economy. Both companies will continue focusing on meeting evolving client needs while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
