Denmark-based Cardlay has introduced its first embedded commercial card and spend management solution in the United States, collaborating with Conduiit.

This launch signifies Cardlay’s entry into the North American market and serves as a practical test of its white-label infrastructure model. This model enables financial institutions and specialized platforms to integrate commercial spend management features atop their existing issuing and processing systems without having to replace core components.

Challenging traditional players in a dynamic marketplace

The US commercial card sector has witnessed substantial activity from vertically integrated entities that have developed proprietary solutions from the ground up. Cardlay’s offering is aimed at established banks and fintech firms looking to modernize their commercial card offerings without undertaking comprehensive infrastructure overhauls.

By decoupling the user-facing spend experience from the underlying issuing and processing layers, the platform aims to streamline the process of launching competitive commercial card products. The solution is designed to cater to large, mid-sized organizations as well as smaller businesses and distributed teams that prioritize ease-of-use at the employee level.

The initial US initiative was carried out in partnership with Conduiit, a financial platform catering to creators and the entertainment industry. Through this collaboration, Conduiit now offers a commercial card and spend management solution tailored for content creators, production companies, and remote teams. This arrangement gives Conduiit access to enterprise-level spend controls, approval processes, and real-time transaction visibility without necessitating the construction of proprietary infrastructure. Additionally, cards will be issued on the Mastercard network.

Cardlay’s infrastructure is built to integrate with existing processors, issuing banks, and payment networks across different markets, positioning the platform as a deployable layer rather than a replacement solution.

With the first US program now operational, Cardlay has signalled that additional North American collaborations are being developed, indicating a phased expansion strategy to establish its presence in the region.
