Crypto exchange Bitget has received approval from Georgia to operate as a provider of digital asset exchange and custodial wallet services within the Tbilisi Free Zone (TFZ).

Bitget’s Expansion into Eastern Europe

The licensing signifies Bitget’s move into Eastern European markets, in line with its strategy to secure licenses in regions that foster cryptocurrency through supportive regulatory environments and a forward-looking economic outlook.

Georgia was chosen by Bitget for its recent advancements in cryptocurrency, its business-friendly policies, and its backing of blockchain initiatives. As one of the top countries for per capita crypto mining and blockchain integration, Georgia promotes policies that align with global financial standards while encouraging the growth of a potential emerging cryptocurrency market.

The TFZ offers tax incentives and streamlined procedures for digital asset companies, attracting international firms seeking operational flexibility and regulatory clarity. Bitget’s move to Georgia fits into its broader mission to establish itself in responsible and innovative markets. As crypto adoption accelerates rapidly, Eastern Europe supports platforms like Bitget that aim to serve both institutional and retail users under compliant frameworks.

Regulatory transparency in Georgia and similar countries is crucial for ensuring controlled, responsible growth. This value aligns with Bitget’s international expansion plans, as the company works towards compliance with local and global regulatory requirements and industry laws.

Bitget currently holds licenses across Europe, LATAM, and APAC, including in Australia under AUSTRAC, Italy through OAM, and Poland, Bulgaria, Lithuania, and the Czech Republic. It operates in the UK via FCA-authorised Archax Ltd and has registrations in El Salvador and Argentina. The new license in Georgia indicates Bitget’s preference for regions that implement supportive crypto frameworks and maintain regulatory prudence. Each license represents a step towards integrating its services into everyday infrastructure while ensuring compliance, security, and development.
