allpay, a UK-based organization focused on public sector payments, recently launched DOSH, a prepaid Mastercard card and app aimed at providing financial inclusion for adults who are excluded from traditional banking services.
Following an extensive nine-month pilot period, the product is now rolling out to select users. A broader market launch is anticipated in future phases.
DOSH seeks to address common barriers that prevent adults from accessing conventional banking products, such as a lack of traditional identification documents, limited or non-existent credit history, and mistrust in financial institutions. Approximately one million adults in the UK are unbanked according to data cited by allpay. This card does not require a credit check and allows for flexible ID verification methods, including a vouched-for system for those without standard forms of identification.
Key Features and Distribution
The DOSH card is accepted on the Mastercard network for both in-store contactless transactions and online purchases. Users can also deposit or withdraw cash at over 11,500 Post Office locations throughout the UK. The accompanying app offers financial education resources and user-friendly guidance to enhance money management skills. Live customer support is available within the app.
During the initial invite-only launch phase, access has been extended through partnerships with housing associations, charities, and public sector organizations that engage with individuals who could benefit from this service. allpay has over three decades of experience working with social housing providers and local authorities, establishing a strong network within sectors most likely to reach unbanked populations. Prospective users can also sign up on the DOSH website for early access before the wider rollout.

The controlled launch ensures responsible growth while maintaining human support as an integral part of the user experience.
