The partnership between Airwallex and the European Payments Initiative (EPI) has led to the integration of Wero into Airwallex’s platform, opening up new payment options for merchants and businesses in Europe.
This collaboration will enable Airwallex to become a Principal Member of EPI. As a result, customers on the Airwallex platform can now offer Wero Wallet as a payment option throughout Europe, facilitating smoother transactions across borders.
The partnership is seen as a significant step towards simplifying and standardizing Europe’s complex payments landscape. By integrating Wero, Airwallex aims to provide its users with direct access to this payment method from the start of their operations in various European markets, thereby enabling them to engage more customers and streamline their payment processes.
Enhancing Global Infrastructure
Airwallex’s strategy is focused on strengthening its financial infrastructure globally. Through this partnership, Airwallex aims to offer optimized payment methods, multi-currency accounts, and embedded financial tools to support both international businesses and local merchants in Europe. This move not only simplifies access for consumers but also reduces reliance on traditional card networks, aligning with EU regulatory and security standards.
Wero was designed based on the principles of simplicity, security, and sovereignty. EPI’s partnership with Airwallex offers a future-proof solution that can reach an expanding base of international merchants driving digital commerce in Europe. Wero Wallet is anticipated to launch for e-commerce payments in Germany by the end of 2025, followed by France and Belgium in 2026, with point-of-sale acceptance expected shortly thereafter.
