Investigation Details
The investigation began when the Authority received information regarding a suspicious cryptocurrency transaction involving a registered user on a Greek crypto exchange service provider. Further analysis by specially trained analysts revealed that the funds originated from a theft incident targeting Bybit, valued at USD 1.5 billion and referred to as TraderTraitor by the FBI. The current theft is suspected to be carried out by a notorious hacking group.
Legal Actions Taken
As a result of these findings, a Seizure Order was issued for the crypto wallet and its criminal proceeds. A report was prepared and submitted to the competent Prosecutor’s Office for further legal action.
