BMO has unveiled a streamlined Online Banking for Business platform across the United States, tailored to support small and mid-sized enterprises and emerging middle market clients.
Building on its earlier release in the fall of 2025, this new nationwide rollout aims to enhance the digital banking experience for SMEs. The platform is integrated into BMO’s BusinessWorks US pricing bundle, offering a simplified solution that focuses on ease of use rather than complex treasury functionalities.
This platform streamlines payment processes, enhances clarity in cash flow management, and introduces more straightforward user controls and navigation features to cater to growing business teams. For clients with advanced financial needs, BMO continues to offer its traditional commercial online banking services.
Design Inspiration and Feedback
The US version benefits from insights gathered during the initial Canadian launch in 2024, which won a Red Dot Award for user experience design. Early feedback and AI analysis guided final adjustments, emphasizing simplicity and efficiency to streamline daily banking tasks.
BMO’s launch seeks to address an unmet need in commercial banking within the US market, where digital tools have traditionally catered either to individual consumers or large enterprises, often leaving small businesses without a tailored solution for routine financial management.
Derek Vernon, BMO’s Head of North American Treasury and Payment Solutions, highlighted that many smaller companies previously lacked adequate support from traditional banking systems. The new platform is designed to enable business owners to monitor cash flow, handle everyday payments, and keep their operations running smoothly as they expand. Jeff De Rosa, BMO’s Head of US Emerging Middle Market at Commercial Bank, also noted that the platform addresses customer feedback for a contemporary, user-friendly experience that minimizes disruptions in day-to-day banking activities.
