Square and Uber have partnered to broaden Square’s point-of-sale system with Uber Eats into international territories, such as Canada, Australia, the UK, Ireland, France, and Spain. This collaboration aims to streamline restaurant operations by integrating Uber Eats ordering directly within the Square platform, eliminating the need for separate order management tools.

Simplifying Restaurant Operations in Multiple Markets

Square’s existing integration with Uber Eats in the US is set to be rolled out to six new international markets. This will enable restaurants to control menus, modifiers, and inventory from a single interface and access Instant Payouts for cash flow management. A self-sign-up process for this service is anticipated.

As restaurant operators increasingly manage orders across multiple channels, the benefits of integrated systems become more evident, reducing complexity and minimizing errors in order fulfillment.

Expanding Payment Options with Cash App Pay

In the United States, Cash App Pay will be introduced as a payment option for both Uber Eats food deliveries and Uber rides. With 59 million active users, the majority of whom are Millennials and Generation Z, plus a growing teen user base, this addition offers Uber access to a distinct customer segment with diverse payment preferences.

This move follows the integration of Block’s Afterpay product with Uber in Australia, enhancing customer flexibility. The current agreement now includes three different products: Square’s POS integration, Cash App Pay, and Afterpay, illustrating Block’s strategy to deploy various financial solutions across its partners.

An official from Uber emphasized that this expansion aims to benefit restaurant partners by providing access to new growth opportunities and enabling a wider range of consumers to use flexible payment methods. Similarly, a Block representative highlighted the dual role of these products in both merchant and consumer transactions.

The planned Square–Uber Eats integration covers three continents but no specific timeline for market-specific rollouts has been confirmed yet.
