Riskified has incorporated its advanced fraud protection and chargeback safeguarding solution into Outpayce, Amadeus’s travel payments platform.

Airline transactions face unique challenges when it comes to preventing fraudulent activities. High ticket values, a significant portion of card-not-present transactions, and the attractiveness of travel bookings to fraudsters lead to higher rates of both fraud and chargebacks. According to Riskified’s analysis, flight reservations from the previous year showed a 14% increased risk compared to the preceding year, indicating that sophisticated attempts at exploiting vulnerabilities in airline systems are on the rise.

With this integration, airlines utilizing Outpayce will benefit from Riskified’s machine learning-driven fraud decisioning system. The company describes its approach as more flexible than traditional rule-based methods. Additionally, the partnership introduces Riskified’s Chargeback Guarantee scheme, which ensures that the provider covers any chargebacks for transactions it approves, thereby offering airlines a measure of revenue stability coupled with enhanced protection against fraud.

This collaboration is particularly beneficial for carriers operating in regions where the volume of chargebacks creates substantial financial and administrative burdens. It also suits airlines looking to enter new markets with varying levels of risk. Further operational advantages include reduced manual review requirements and faster transaction processing at checkouts.

The combination of expertise from both companies is highlighted as a key aspect of their partnership. Their extensive merchant networks, which cover airlines, online travel agencies, transportation providers, tour operators, and event merchants, contribute to more precise fraud detection across the industry ecosystem.

First live deployment slated for 2026

A significant international airline based in Asia-Pacific is set to be the first to deploy this integrated solution during 2026. However, specific details about the carrier and the launch timeline have not yet been revealed. The initial implementation aims to serve as a blueprint for future onboarding of additional travel merchants.

This announcement aligns with an emerging trend in the travel payments industry, where embedded fraud management is becoming more integrated into payment orchestration layers, streamlining the process for airlines and reducing the complexity of managing multiple solutions separately.
