TabSense, a Saudi-based technology company focused on point-of-sale solutions, has launched an AI Fraud Detection Agent aimed at identifying and flagging revenue losses in restaurants and cafes through round-the-clock transaction monitoring.
This launch marks TabSense’s shift from conventional POS systems to what it calls Point of Intelligence (POI) models, emphasizing continuous and autonomous oversight of transactions.
The AI Fraud Detection Agent continuously monitors all transactions for patterns that suggest unusual cashier behavior, revenue leakage between shifts, or unauthorized exceptions like repeated discounts or refunds. These anomalies are highlighted in real time to prevent potential fraud before it impacts the merchant’s bottom line.
Capabilities and Market Context
In addition to fraud detection, TabSense’s platform also offers cross-selling features that reportedly boost average basket size by 7% and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) by 38%. The system includes conversational operations, allowing businesses to access performance reports and manage inventory through WhatsApp. It is designed to support ZATCA Phase II e-invoicing compliance, essential for Saudi Arabia’s SMEs in the food services industry.
Entering the market with an AI-native architecture, TabSense positions this as a strategic advantage over traditional POS providers, which often have legacy systems. According to an independent study by Headway, TabSense outperformed competitors in ease of use and showed high user satisfaction, with most users becoming familiar with the system within one to two days.
TabSense plans to offer some AI agents free during 2026 as part of its strategy to reduce switching barriers for existing operators.
In a statement, Mohamed Jaber, Co-Founder and CEO of TabSense, highlighted how the platform analyzes transaction data in real time to protect merchant profitability, going beyond just recording past events.
