G7, a prominent taxi service in Europe, has recently integrated JCB Cards into its system across all vehicles in Paris. This move allows customers with JCB cards to make payments directly through the taxi’s on-board terminal.
This partnership reflects G7’s strategic approach to enhancing payment flexibility for international visitors, especially as there is a noticeable increase in Asian tourism in the city of Paris.
JCB, with 175 million cardholders across 18 countries and regions, primarily located in Asia, aims to boost card acceptance within Europe. The introduction of JCB Cards into G7 taxis is part of this broader strategy.
Recovery in Asian Tourism
According to data from the Paris Tourist Office for the summer of 2025, visits from Chinese, Japanese, and Indian tourists increased by more than 40%, 34%, and 14% respectively compared to the same period in 2023. For travelers using JCB Cards as their main payment method, the lack of acceptance at key points of mobility was previously a hurdle.
In addition to card payment options, G7 taxis offer several practical advantages for international tourists, including authorization to operate in restricted traffic zones like Rue de Rivoli and areas around the Louvre Museum. They also have access to taxi-only lanes.
Commenting on the partnership, Yann Ricordel, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of G7, emphasized that this integration supports G7’s mission to enhance customer accessibility for an increasingly diverse international clientele. Ray Shinzawa, Managing Director of JCB Europe, highlighted how this collaboration improves convenience and peace of mind for cardholders in Paris, aligning with JCB’s goal of expanding acceptance throughout the region.
