Mint Payments, a fintech company operating in the travel industry from Australia, has recently announced its partnership with ABTA, The Travel Association—the largest trade body for the UK’s travel sector, representing over 4,300 brands that collectively sell holidays worth more than £40 billion annually.

This official partnership underscores Mint’s compliance with ABTA’s criteria for supplier qualifications in the UK travel industry, encompassing experience, expertise, and adherence to professional standards.

Mint commenced operations in the United Kingdom in 2025 after successfully establishing itself as a payment provider in Australia and New Zealand. Here, it processes transactions totaling over AUD 3.5 billion annually—equivalent to around £1.7 billion—which demonstrates its growing market presence and expertise.

Key Platform Features and Market Context

The UK’s travel payments landscape has undergone significant disruption recently, with traditional providers scaling back or altering their pricing structures. This leaves many businesses with limited access to specialized payment solutions. Mint addresses these challenges by designing a platform tailored specifically for the intricacies of the travel industry. The solution integrates seamlessly into booking processes and mid-office systems, supporting multiple payment methods and currencies. It also automates reconciliation with booking references and streamlines settlement management through a unified interface.

Mint Protect, an additional feature offered by Mint Payments, provides financial protection against chargebacks and supplier failures—a service often not covered by conventional providers. Unlike models that rely on substantial reserve funds, Mint’s approach minimizes capital retention, thereby enhancing cash flow for travel businesses.

Simon Bowles, UK Managing Director at Mint Payments, highlighted the significance of this partnership in affirming the company’s dedication to integrity and industry best practices. He emphasized that this collaboration builds on their existing relationship with The Travel Network Group, further fortifying trust and operational efficiency throughout the UK travel sector.
