Incard has secured an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority, allowing it to directly issue e-money and enhance its financial services platform.

Following this announcement, Incard, a platform serving high-growth digital companies, has been granted authorisation as an EMI by the FCA. This licence enables the company to offer direct issuance of e-money, payment and card accounts, and foreign exchange services without relying on third-party infrastructure.

This development represents a significant regulatory milestone for Incard, which was launched in 2024 and has since built a platform tailored for ecommerce brands, agencies, affiliates, and resellers. Users have completed transactions worth over GBP 500 million through the platform.

Regulatory authorization and platform scope

According to the official press release, FCA authorisation as an EMI provides Incard with greater operational independence within the UK’s regulated payments framework. The FCA’s EMI regime mandates that firms meet capital adequacy requirements, safeguard client funds, and comply with the Electronic Money Regulations 2011, placing Incard in a well-structured regulatory environment for non-bank payment service providers.

The new license supports what the company refers to as an ‘orchestration layer’ — a unified platform that integrates business banking, corporate cards, cash flow management, invoicing, and advertising spend management into one interface. This is intended to address historical gaps in the banking and payments infrastructure that Incard claims have long underserved digital entrepreneurs.

A company spokesperson notes that EMI status will allow Incard to better meet customer needs and accelerate product development, particularly in automation and artificial intelligence areas.

Funding and growth trajectory

Following an announcement of a GBP 10 million Series A funding round in early February 2026, Incard has used the combined effect of this investment and regulatory approval to focus on expanding its app store offerings and advancing AI-driven capabilities.

With the EMI licence now in place, Incard aims to deepen its product offering and potentially broaden its regulated services as it grows. The company will continue to prioritize meeting the needs, preferences, and demands of clients and users while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry laws.
