Expedia Group and Affirm have intensified their strategic partnership, with Affirm now serving as the sole BNPL provider for accommodation and package bookings across Expedia’s US-based brands.

The brands that will leverage Affirm’s exclusive BNPL service are Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo. In the coming weeks, these solutions will be extended to Canadian travelers on certain properties as well.

Simplified travel bookings

Through this extended, multi-year collaboration, eligible customers searching for hotels or packages on Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo can enjoy real-time approval processes and personalized installment payment plans up to 24 months. For US travelers, there are also 0% APR promotions available for three- or six-month terms. Affirm ensures that no compounding interest or late fees apply, providing clear terms from the start.

Expedia Group is also committed to enhancing travel planning experiences with advanced AI tools to help users discover destinations and create itineraries. According to Pat Suh, SVP of Revenue at Affirm, the company’s focus on making payments more convenient aligns with Expedia Group’s ongoing efforts to streamline travel experience planning.

Meanwhile, Jing Yang, Vice President, Global Payments at Expedia Group, emphasized that by expanding their partnership in the US and Canada, the group aims to empower travelers to plan their trips flexibly and choose payment options best suited to their preferences.

Growing Affirm Presence

This strengthened alliance between Expedia Group and Affirm follows recent announcements highlighting Affirm’s growing influence. Recently, Bolt chose Affirm as its default BNPL provider for US checkout processes, while Fiserv partnered with the company to introduce BNPL features on debit cards.
