Nexi Group, based in Europe and operating within the PayTech sector, has joined the Agentic Commerce Alliance (ACA). This move underscores Nexi’s support for advancing agent-driven commerce.
The Agentic Commerce Alliance brings together various companies to enhance how autonomous agents interact and collaborate in commercial environments. As a member, Nexi will contribute its extensive European market presence, local payment expertise, and practical experience in transactional layers that are essential for AI agents. These contributions aim to optimize open standards facilitating interoperable agentic systems.
Navigating Challenges in Agent-Driven Commerce
As commerce evolves, a new generation of autonomous agents capable of understanding context and coordinating across multiple systems is emerging. However, without shared standards and open interoperability, these agents face challenges in carrying out their tasks consistently across different systems and channels.
The Agentic Commerce Alliance addresses these issues by developing vendor-neutral, open standards that enable agents to collaborate seamlessly while respecting merchant control. The alliance’s core principles focus on human-first trust, customer-centricity, neutrality among vendors, default openness, interoperability designed into the architecture, and worldwide accessibility.
Founded as an extension of Shopware’s experience in open commerce architecture and AI development, the Agentic Commerce Alliance operates under these guiding principles. It aims to foster collaboration through shared intelligence and transparency.
Roberto Catanzaro, Chief Business Officer of Merchant Solutions at Nexi Group, highlighted that joining ACA aligns with the company’s commitment to delivering secure payment experiences for AI-driven commerce globally. Through partnerships with organizations like Google, Mastercard, and Visa, Nexi ensures that agent-led purchases accurately reflect consumer intent.
Catanzaro also noted that ACA membership solidifies Nexi’s dedication to supporting European merchants while fostering global collaborations. This move will enable businesses to benefit from next-generation automated commerce tools as they expand in the digital economy.
